MININFRA welcomes new Ministers

On 4th December 2009, Hon. Vincent Karega became the new Minister of Infrastructure. Minister Karega joins MININFRA from the Ministry of Natural Resources, where he served as Minister of State in charge of Environment, Water and Mines for two years. 

Hon. Eng. Coletha Ruhamya was sworn in as Minister of State in Charge of Energy and Water on 15th December, and has extensive experience in water, sanitation and waste management issues.

We look forward to this exciting new phase at MININFRA!

Inter-ministerial meeting on multi-national railway makes important progress

On 9-10th December 2009, high level representatives including ministers and permanent secretaries from Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda convened in Kigali to discuss the findings of the BNSF feasibilty study into the upgrading of the exisiting railway line from Dar es Salaam to Isaka, and the way forward for the muti-national railway project. 

At the end of the meeting, the three governments agreed to adopt AREMA standards, and the next stage of the project is to address legal and regulatory issues and mobilise funds.
