Kinigi IDP Model Village inaugurated as Rwanda marks 27th Kwibohora Celebration

Musanze, 4 July 2021- On behalf of HE Paul Kagame, the President of the Republic of Rwanda and Commander-in-Chief of Rwanda Defence Force, the Minister of Defence, Hon. Maj Gen Albert Murasira and Local Government Minister, Hon. Gatabazi J Marie Vianney have today inaugurated Kinigi IDP Model Village that accommodates 144 families in Musanze District.

The Model village constructed by Rwanda Defence Force in partnership with other Government Institutions was inaugurated and availed to locals as Rwanda marks the 27th Liberation Day Celebration.

The IDP Model Village consists of 6 Apartments that accommodate 144 families, Groupe Scolaire Kampanga, an ECD, Kinigi Health Centre and other welfare support facilities such as cowsheds for 102 cows, poultry cages for 8000 chicken, livestock hall and Agakiriro among others.

The village also has a water supply system, access roads, electricity, and many trees planted in the entire compound, among others.

While addressing few residents that were selected to represent others due to Covid-19 pandemic measures, Hon Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Albert Murasira emphasised that RDF will remain at the forefront in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

“As the country was liberated from bad leadership, we remain with the struggle to develop our country and RDF will keep the lead in collaboration with citizens,” he said.

He called on the beneficiaries of the new infrastructures to maintain them appropriately.

The facility has been constructed at cost of Rwf27,294,379,418 that have been spent on building two model villages and rehabilitating health facilities, schools, maternity blocks, water supply projects, etc.
